Tomorrow isn't guaranteed. Have you told the people you love that you love them?
That question sat with a nurse in the trauma room at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, and she brought it straight to Michael the moment he came out of the ICU.
In this episode of Whole Again, Michael shares tip number 27 in his 25-Lessons-in-25-Years series, marking the eve of the actual anniversary of his last bad day. It is one of the simplest tips of the series, and one of the most urgent.
A nurse's words in the aftermath of his near-death cycling accident became a lesson Michael has carried for a quarter century: tomorrow isn't promised, so make sure the people in your life know they are loved, today.
This episode is intentionally short, because Michael wants you to spend the time you would normally spend listening doing something else entirely: reaching out. A call. A text. A moment of honesty with someone who matters to you.

Hey there, it's Michael. Welcome to Whole Again, the show that's here in support of the person you're becoming in your quest to live a meaningful life. This year marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of my last bad day, also known as my near-death cycling accident that sparked all of this. And as one way to celebrate, I'm giving away copies of my book, My Last Bad Day Shift, and sharing one lesson I've learned over the twenty-five years each Friday.

And the lessons may help you step into the person you're becoming or help you create a meaningful life. And today, we're up to tip number twenty-seven, and this is a big one because tomorrow is the actual date of my accident. When I came out of the ICU, one of the nurses in the trauma room at the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque paid me a visit, and she told me, "Michael, tomorrow isn't guaranteed for anyone.

Make sure the people in your life know that you love them." That's the tip this week. And I'm gonna keep this episode really short because I want to encourage you to use the time that you would normally spend listening to reach out to the people in your life. Give them a call, send them a text, do whatever you need to do to let them know how much you love them.

That's it. Tip number 27 And as always, thanks for listening. Thank you for being part of our community. But most importantly, thank you for taking action, action that creates a ripple effect of meaning, of connection. And speaking of connection, I hope you'll check out tomorrow's episode of my series that I'm running this summer called A Perfectly Imperfect Union: Reflections on America as She Turns 250 Years Old.

So I hope you'll check it out and other episodes of Whole Again. But until then, let's remember to celebrate our scars as golden symbols of our strength and resilience. And don't forget to have fun storming the castle.
